Whether you have too much produce after a visit to the Farmer’s Market or you are preparing for the Zombie Apocalypse, canning is a wonderful way to preserve food. Heat, acid, sugar, and freezing are four common methods of preserving that are relatively easy for city dwellers. To get you through the frozen hellscape that is winter in Philadelphia, we will also experiment with preserving food using alcohol.
In this session of In a Pickle, Allison will teach you quick pickling methods as well as alcohol infusions while she walks you through the process of making Bourbon pickled jalapenos and apple pie infused bourbon.
And as always, if you still need another reason to come, there will be a cocktail hour where participants can taste a wide variety of pickled fruits and vegetables.
